Anybody else doing the Kings of the Grill BBQ Comp. in St. Louis this weekend at Epiphany church?

Payout is low, however much of the proceeds will go to charities...so no matter what happens I'll have something to feel good about Very Happy

I don't like having to pay the comp fee + another fee to vend + the health dept fee. Maybe if it had a different structure...say split vending proceeds 50/50 between the teams and the event...we might have done this one. We also would have donated most if not all of any winnings back.

Also they are saying on the website it's a Royal qualifier which it unfortunately is not. I hope someone isn't disappointed in the end.

Final scores haven't been posted yet, and due to suffering from severely eroded attention span (and total mental capacity in general) from lack of sleep, I don't remember who won each of the categories.

What I do remember is that:

1) we had a whole lot of fun in our first BBQ competition (despite drinking too many "man sodas" and not getting enough sleep);
2) we met a whole lot of good, friendly and helpful people; and
3) we took 1st place in Chicken, and 4th place overall out of 12 teams!!!
