This year the awards will be on Saturday and I have been told that teams wishing to leave after the awards can do so with an escort.
This will be Debbie's and my first time out on the trail. Very Happy

I read if there are more than 50 teams, then gc gets invite to american royal? have you seen that?

There were 40 teams last year, and the Grandchampion received an invite to the American Royal.

The American Royal has changed its rules somewhat for 2012-2013 - they were just announced about a week ago. A state championship proclamation from the governor is no longer required, just 15 teams the first year of a contest and 25 teams in subsequent years.

So for this contest, since they're sanctioned by an American Royal approved sanctioning body and doing at least poultry, pork, and beef, if they have at least 25 teams and the organizer and GC fill out all the American Royal forms and the AR gets sent the results of the contest and a list of teams, the GC will get invited to the Royal.

Darn! I am going to miss the debut of the Beast! I am scheduled to be out of country that weekend and (almost as bad) the following weekend (Dove season opening of the South zone). Please take a lot of pictures of the event, visitors, turn in boxes, etc. etc. and share so I can at least enjoy it second hand. Good luck to you and Debbie!
