Hey guys .
First off great site I spent hours on end just reading threw the many post of the ways you either mod or build you grill. I think I'm going overboard with this but since our back yard is in bad shape from the previous owners lack of common brains I figure why not go over the top. I'm planning a huge out door kitchen with a pizza oven, rot grill , bar and a countertop cooking area. I mfg faux panels for homes that look like stone so why not add to the field. Here is just a simple design layout it's not detailed nor perfect just something i put out in 5 mins . any comment or question, advice would be welcome. I know I will need to ask a question now and then since I will be building all the grill for the back except the drop in unit.

THanks in advance.

Thanks it's a big job..
I found a set of drawings a member posted for his rot build I hope he don't mind me using them as a base idea.
since the 2 main units are built in to walls I'm starting to try and figure out the fire box placement on the rot . Do you think it would to much to try and add a vertical smoker and running it off the same box with a divider to cut off the one when it's not in use? I still need to figure out a water pan idea since it's built in I think I will have to get at it from the inside. The pizza oven part i have figured out and got some blueprints on it so that will be easy.
Just 2 more questions bear with me..lol
should i keep posting all my questions dealing with this in one thread instead of making a bunch to clog up the site.
And #2
umm Is there a faq for abreations like "wmd" and stuff like I tried to google some but that was not about bbq . just like when you google stoker ....
Thanks |

eidesignstudio, I think your upright will work if I am understanding you idea through words. I am a picture or talk to on the phone guy for ideas most of the time. I am not sure why your wanting a water pan other than a heat sink.
Here is a link to SmokeHound's Acronym's and Definition's.

Here is a picture I did real quick I hope this helps with what I'm talking about nothing is to scale . What i mean is move the fire box to the center of the two come out on each side to feed and add a vent or baffle to block off one or the other?
The reason I was asking about a water cooker pan was a friend has one in his little setup " back yard version " he saw on some show. I liked the idea of being able to to do a mix of 50/50 apple juice and water mixed in with the smoke. I hope that came out right. I've was reading your builds and your stuff looks great. I guess if it helps in the am I can go out side and measure everything for space and stuff. I figure once that is figured out. the smoker blue prints can start. I don't want to put the cart before the horse..
I'm sorry if i did not say before my name is Gary I'm sure my screen name will get old typing out each time..
Cheers

Here ya go Gary.
If you place a shut off for either one you will have a usable unit. The water pan will be optional if you feel you can add flavor with it. In my experience with WSM's, UDS's, reverse flows, and straight offsets water pans offer nothing more than heat sinks no flavor. You will get your flavor from your wood smoke. If you feel you will need a heat sink in your build by all means add it now. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

| I ran across this post looking for something else, and it caught my interest. How is your build coming? Have you started? Have you finished? It would be great if you could post pictures. Good Luck. |

Hello,
I wish I could say I made some progress. I have been in and out of the hospital for months due to health issues. I started to redo my deck. I was just trying to flip the boards over and then clean it out so i can start a new slab. I have not gotten any where it as far as building anything. I have sourced some motors to play with for the racks. I have also spent the time to learn as much as I could so i would not have to hire some one to make my counter tops so they will be made of concrete. I spent alot of time learning GFRC so i can make my stone wall panels. I have most of the stuff I will need just looking for a friend with a back hoe so I can level out the area Tried it by hand it was a no go. I hope to make progress this year. You guys take care
