"Do you scrunch up your butt?"

At 1st glance, this might seem like a rather personal question......Butt I tried a little experimenting Sat nite / Sunday AM ~~~~~>

My biggest butt almost filled this container used for rub / injection

Then noticed the meat's pliable enough to scrunch it up into one end.....

So I thought: Would it cook any different if it was cooked all scrunched up as opposed to streched out ?

Stump's & Wicked Good & black walnut blocks ~~>

Followed the progression pretty tightly as I tried to make something scientific out of BBQ Shocked Shocked Shocked

Started @ 10:30 PM ~~~>

Ron's "In the House", love that stuff!!
Also paid attention in class the other day on the thread about 'smoke ring' &
rubbed it several hours ahead of time & put on cold straight from the fridge

Did one all streched out..........

And one scrunched up......

Feedin' abt 40 people, so I did up some ribs, no strech on these dawgs, 6-1/4 # on the big ones....

And some of 'Jarhead's Roadhouse Green Beans'~~~>
(with a little extra meat thrown in,insipation from Italian Skewer's post on pulled rib tacos:
http://www.thesmokering.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57897 )

These things are grate !!
Recipe can be found here:
http://www.thesmokering.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57056

About the time the ribs went on, the pork progession was a bit more than half way around the ring...

Coal all done...

Pop up timers out......

Then, gazing over my pork belly, the watch sez 1:00 PM
(13-1/2 hours, for those who like to keep track of such stuff)
197 & time to wrap & head out to cook more stuff !!!

Did a pot of beans w/ pork bark & bits (from previous stuff, frozen)

Two kinds of zuccini & asparagus.....

Grilled off about 30 sausages & some really good marinated
flank steak, 20 ears of corn,125 ABT's, etc, etc.

The ribs were terrific......So tender, they started to melt into the grates....

Thought I got a better pic here, but it's in the shade
Anyway, smoke ring went all the way thru...

The butts turned out just right.....
The verdict on strech??
1)Done at the same time
2)scrunched one slightly more moist than the streched
3)Not a big deal

I couldn't pull the pork fast enough for these folks, even with bear claws !!!
NO PHOTOS, It's GONE !!!

In the end, everybody had a good time......

After all, it's not rocket surgery, just BBQ......

Nice cook..!!

Good of you to see if the scrunching made any difference or not. I was betting on the "didnt make a difference". Wink

With all that food you did up I am sure your quests left with belts loosened. Laughing

Ken, I've never scrunched my butt before, but I've been known to scratch it when it itches. Shocked Laughing
Everything looks top notch. Good time and great eats had by all, I'm sure.

Thanks Roxy, I'm nowhere near the scientist / food knowledge type that folks like you & Alien & smokin' gal & a lot of others are.....but I like to try....

Thanks, Rinngrizz ~~~>
Every last Sunday of the month we do a good sized get together like this....Good event for me to practice up....Plenty of guinea pigs to test out recipes......

Thanks Ray ~~~>
You too can scrunch up your butt, works best if you make a funny face at the same time.......

thanks, davethegrill !!
The ribs are about the easiest part of the whole thing....the hard part is grilling a whole bunch of sausage real quick....

Thanks John !
Yeah they were just about rolling out of there....loosened belts & all...
PS: Wash your hands after you scratch...food safety & all...

Thanks Mac !!
No that's my friends house across town....couldn't probably fit that many in my tiny backyard....
I cooked for 110 ppl for their wedding there & others cooked for 160 for my wedding there.....
It's a great big double length yard w/ a pole shed & a pool in the back half...what you see there is only part of the front half....

Thanks fer looking & hope you all had a great weekend yourselves !!! Very Happy

bucks. Great stuff. Just lookin at the length of that table. Gotta love it when you have to stand in line to pick out your food. Buffet style. Cool Doesn't look like there's anything left. Somehow it doesn't surprise me. Awesome my man.
