Local Splash???

got a phone call offering a deal of a lifetime to have my website on google's "top 7" list. Only $200/month! Offer good for 1 day only! Act NOW!!

They stated they worked directly with google to place top rated businesses on the top 7 list...a prestigious place to be because I am such a great businessman.

I turned them down and then the price was only $169/month for a 3 month committment...

And I turned them down. When asked why I would reject such a great opportunity, I simply told them I was not prepared to spend $2000+ based on a 5 minute conversation with a company I have never heard of!

I hung up politely and a quick google search of "Local Splash" turned up lots of scam complaints and fraud alerts...ON GOOGLE! I thought that was ironic!

I also found it odd that they needed to ask for my website address...should they not have it already?

Anyone know these people? Legit? Scam? Think they will post negative reviews of me since I turned them down?

They bill themselves as a "Search engine Optimization service", with a little google-fu, this can be done for free, by yourself, but many people are not fully aware of how or what to do to be on the first page of relevant google search. and then there is people like me who couldn't care less because my locality internet marketing is decades behind most major metro area's.

This is nearly the same as what the company 'Life-Lock" started doing with identity theft and credit reporting, people paid them hundreds, signed power of attorney paperwork, and life-lock placed "credit holds" for people, this made it more difficult for a scammer to get wrongful credit approval, extra steps would be needed to help stop identity theft, it didn't take long for the news to come out that the consumer can do this at no cost by themselves, and it hurt the margins of the company. I expect the same to happen with splash

What I always like about these companies is they try to gulit trip you if you say no."you must not want to be successful"One called and told me everything they were going to do,I say no thanks.and went and did it myself.month later they called with the same pitch,I told them I have the #1 and 2 spot in my market what are they going to do?
