Posted: Apr 11 2012 Post subject: Propane Assistance-Multiple Devices, one tank |
|
|
I was not sure where to post, so I am trying it here.
On my bbq catering/vending trailer, I have two devices that use propane. First one is a tankless water heater, and the second is a 2 burner stove.
What do I need in the way of plumbing, tees, hoses, etc, to connect both these devices to the same, 5 gallon LPG tank?
They are both low flow devices (i believe) and have individual regulators.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Pete |

I can't offer any tech assistance, but before doing any propane plumbing, if you haven't yet check with your HD. By your handle I figure you have checked with the fire marshal on requirements.
In Austin plumbing has to be done by a master plumber licensed by Texas railroad commission for any modifications and PSI regs, etc. etc. Austin has some tight regulations and requirements, though. _________________ BearBonezBBQ Team and catering

You will need a main regulator, black iron pipe as main gas lines, a shut off valve at each device, an approved hose from tee on pipe to ea device.
**for your stove you may need a fire supression system including a automatic gas shut off for the entire system.(of course depending on regulations).
And a qualified installer. _________________ From vending to Brick & Mortar |

Now wait a second... if your appliances already have their own individual regulators, I don't see why you need an additional one at the tank.
It seems to me that all you need is a manifold at the tank so you can run two separate lines. |

That is what I was hoping, but I will need to run a longer hose to my two burner stove, but I see 6 or 8 propane hoses available. What type of manifold are you talking about?

I was thinking of something like this:
http://www.tejassmokers.com/products/brassfittings.htm
Look under the section POL, POL Manifold, QCC Adapter Tank Fittings.
If nothing else, you could call him and describe what your doing and I'm sure he could put together the parts you need.
Your local propane dealer could probably put together a manifold for your also.
The individual shut off valves is good advice. |
