soooo makin a new cooker here.
one professional cook, avid woodworker, metalworker, leatherworker, stained glass artist, backyard mechanic type of guy building it.
one very understanding and much aligned hobbywise wife.
one 50 gal hwt.
one "slightly bulged" 100lb prop tank. had it soaking last fall, winter set in sorta, never emptied it til 2 days ago lol.
hwt end cut. don't mind the shaky cut, grinders do wonders!!! first time cuttin on the round with me plasma. lol
gonna save the end mebbe use it fer a base of a grill somedays, its thicker than the tank.
puckertime!!! stood er up on me lil welding table outside.....marked cutline had at er.
wellllll sorta. after i refilled it with water again i got to thinkin......plasma=electricity.....lots of it!!! zoiks paranoid again, back to "the ring" to see if'n ya'll have been cuttin with plasma on a full tank of water??? meh....couldn't really find an easy answer in half an hour or so......get at it!!!
love these waterfall shots lol
ok nuff o that.
after draining the waterfall we lost light and now even with a sloped drive everything was soaked......call me a pussy but with 50 amps in my hand comin from 240 volt outlet, i let safety come to mind and finished the cut the next day.
the old bottom of the tank will make a nice portable grill someday soon.
yesterday, managed to grind away me shaky cut so i could poopytackweld on a shaky cut circle of 3/16 shteel as an end cap with the tank standing on it.
laid er back down onna wheels an stitched round an round til it was fully poopified.
an even managed to start me fitup of the bulge to the poopmonster.
well that's where it stands after day 2 of workin on her.
it'll be an offset with a vertically mounted firebox w/ a small grill on the top of such, and a washout in the bottom of the firebox.
have at er, but mind the poopywelds an shaky cuts lol, im a baker by trade originally an now a cook, carpal tunnel is my best worsst enemy/friend lol.

ok been awhile since the updates i guess..... been helpin a good buddy of mine build somethin a wee bit bigger.
but nuff on that !!!
so lets see now, cut fittings, patched holes, added a 1 inch drain where i wanted it to be.
then got 1 plate installed woohoo!!!
got stalled fer a wee bit (creative juices were gettin used up on me buddy's q)
oh yeah, i also designed my next cooker inbetween workin on his an mine. the cooker body is an oil tank we sectioned and welded together initially he wanted it fer his firebox, but thinkin on it it was still waay too big.
lol but yesterday got back at er, trimmed out my cooker door a bit.
so today did a wee bit more. ran my drain down to the pipe.
plates cut an tacked in place.
welded them out (wow that grease edge looks scary in da pics lol) an started grinding the plates for easy cleaning later.
and that my friends is where she sits as of about 20 minutes ago lol. time fer tea!!!

thanks kam. i love a good pan fried rib steak sometimes, lol.
smallish update that took most of yesterday lol.
got the bottom plate round doorway done. both top and bottom all welded out. which apparently run me near outta gas, to be discovered later in the day dadgummit!!!
didnt feel like messin with the curves of the doorway atm so i moved onto the damper.
then for some reason, decided to mess with compound curves and fitted up the firebox......grind fit repeat over an over, lol.
first view of units together...
got about a quarter way through welding the box to the cooker an run outta gas. dang i just bought that bottle last week !!! but i guess 12 feet of full weld goin round the doorway pieces plus other assorted welding both on this q and my buddies q.
oh here's the heat tubes fer his, we were workin on the dampers, this is partway thru. these got fully welded to his firebox too, huess the gas got used up honestly lol.
thats his firebox ya see inna background there. it\ll be horizontal behind his cooker.
that is all fer now......mebbe more today after i wake up a bit lol.

Darryl, your making some nice progress the cooker is looking fantastic. I know exactly how far it is around the door frame one stick at a time.
I look forward to seeing some more pics and updates. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

thanks kam.
had a small update but lost me train of thought dealing with photobucket. my android app seemed slick buuut....it decided to auto update my album on phone about six times over and over. had to delete tons on pbucket. checked in here, only 1 broke link in my last post...not bad...fixed already even.
baaahhhh rant over.
hmmmm aparently i took no pix yesterday workin. well it was mostly just grinding and cleanin stuff up a bit, but the doorway is lookin gooder.
also started in on the plate for the grill at the top of firebox.
meh updates later i guess.
