The sales guy is Keith, great guy, very good service. Here is his email address, prolines@sbcglobal.net. Look at which grinder you would like and make him an offer. Tell him that Raymond Challoner give you his information, he will treat you right. And it is free shipping in the states. Let me know how you make out.
Thanks,

Nice set ups to all you home builders! Nothing against worrying about safety but I tend to think that common sense goes a long way too. Most people can figure out how to keep their hands out of the moving parts I would think. _________________ Homemade offset smoker 24"x48"

I tend to agree with you, but for what it costs to make a rig like mine safe it is well worth the money. One little stupid mistake, and everybody makes stupid mistakes, and there goes a hand or fingers or whatever. So I am having the parts made to make mine as safe as it can be.
Thanks,

Nothing wrong with that at all. It comes down to what you're comfortable with. _________________ Homemade offset smoker 24"x48"

Good to see this thread.
My dad used to work in the ship yards when i was a kid in Seattle. I still remember seeing the signs of days counting up the days of no accidents.
He watched a dude get scalped with a lathe, another man lost his lower arm up to the elbow when they started pouring a propeller. Multiple stories of fingers being lost, 3-4 hands lost.
Seeing all those open pulleys makes me wonder about what will be posted, including some balls being lost possibly. _________________ #3 LIAR

Go back and read my posting if you can and see what I wrote about instead of making yourself sound stupid. |
F-U.
Your obviously missing my point. Which is even professionals around dangerous chit lose things. Like fingers, limbs, and other body parts.
I suspect that you will be back complaining about a loss due to your ignorance of things moving quickly, a piece of meat sliding out of your hand and you reach for it to save it and there goes a finger or 5.
Have fun!
Make sure you bring back the pictures of the missing fingers. _________________ #3 LIAR

Dude!
WTF!!
Settle down, have a drink, take a pill, spark one up, whatever it takes.
The point is that industrial accidents will happen no matter how careful one is being, we get complacent and we lose body parts. Look at how many cops who carry a handgun daily, and have intense training with forearms still end up shooting themselves and others with negligent discharges from complacency.
I require steel-toe shoes in my restaurant because I saw a guy lose a few toes from a #10 can falling off a shelf and on his foot, Another got a busted foot from a frozen tuna loin landing on it. (not at my place)
The point is that things are very dangerous when working with food processing equipment, we must minimize all risks no matter how minor one may think they are. _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

This is an apology to Oregon Smoker and to this Forum.
I was wrong in jumping on you Oregon Smoker after you posted on the thread. Everything that was said was for the safety and benefit of all of us, no matter how safe we think we are with equipment something can always go wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and that is one of the things which makes our countries so great. I want to apologize for my rudeness and meanness. I am truly sorry for doing that to you and this forum. I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me and if not I will understand why. Usually I am level headed and some one else criticism does not bother me, I can only say because of lack of sleep it made me real touchy. And yes I am not feeling well but I am not using that for a reason for doing that to you. I am truly a really kind and friendly person and I always try and help others as much as I can. Once again I hope you accept my apology.
Truly Sincere,

Raymond, a great reply, it's always best to clear the air when we prematurly hit the post key. I usually vent in my text editor, then save it to my desktop for a day, and decide the next day if I want to post....most times I just drop it in the trash can.
PS I ran four fingers thru a belt air compressor pulley years ago, was wearing a leather glove and the belt was a bit loose, hurt like the dickens but I was lucky. What scrares the pants off me is that wide open throat with a big auger just waiting to grab something.

Would be this considered cold-smoking, hot-smoking or chill-smoking?
