I just completed my 1st year in official BBQ catering and vending. We had a great year and are booking up for 2012 already. My question is what type of business software are you using for your business. We grossed about 30k last year and will probably go up for this year. I just bought a dedicated laptop to run the program. My accountant told me that Quicken or Quickbooks are fine but I'm wondering what you are using.
Thanks in advance,

I have used CATEREASE for more than 10 years. Even the Standard (what i have) version does sooo much more than Quicken. _________________ Where rumors end and legend lives forever... |

BBQ is pretty simple (not the food, the software needs).
I have not used Caterease, and certainly believe Marv that's it's an excellent program.
That being said $2,000+ over $180 for Quick-book Pro makes me wonder if the expense is justified. _________________ BBQMAN

As in most things you get what you pay for and catering software is no different.
If your thinking was true I guess one would have to ask "why buy an expensive smoker when a cheap one will still cook BBQ"??
It all boils down (for me) as to what makes my job easier, more efficient and more productive.
I was only answering the OP'S question as to WHICH program we used not which one we each feel is better than another.
I think that horse has been ridden here many times in the past and has since been put out to pasture...or so I thought. _________________ Where rumors end and legend lives forever... |

I guess you missed the part where I mentioned I'm sure it's a good program Marv!
Whether it's worth an addition 2 Grand for the type of business we run is debatable, particulary for a business grossing 30K a year.
YMMV! _________________ BBQMAN
