I am doing a fundraiser bbq dinner for a local group to pay for a mission trip. We tried to pre sell tickets but of course will prolly have more show up than bought tickets. I'm doing pp and buns, slaw and beans. We are planning on maybe 200 people and I know you plan for at least 1/3 lb portions. I was thinking 12-16 butts should cover me right?? I don't want to spend more than I have too with their money and I also don't want tons left over. Any experiences or advice?? I'm also guessing that $10 a plate isn't too much to ask for a fundraiser is it?

110 lbs (raw) for 4oz sammies, 138 lbs (raw) for 5oz sammies. This will allow a 10% buffer for 200 people.

Any left over is easy to sell by the baggie. I usually sell for $5 a bag.

If you do end up with an overage, the coordinator could auction whole butts for people to take home to help recover/generate more income too.

If I was doing this event, I would prep what is pre-sold, and keep the overage butts whole for that purpose.
