Getting ready for a all night smoke, it's now 22 And it's suppose to get in the teens. I feel there is no bad time to smoke, just some times are better than others

My smoking hobby has turned into a somewhat full time biz - I tell people if fire will burn, I will be serving BBQ [ 3 days a week] ....have found wind to be more of a factor than cold - requires a few more logs, but worth the expense!! Wink -10° is the coldest I recall smokin in [ last year ]

Smoke on! You should have no problem woth a Lang if you have plenty of wood. No reason to slow down on the beverages if you want really good cold weather Q, come on really?

Here's an old pick from Rhode Island. Only about 30* I've had two colder smokes up here and the wind is killer. Nothing will stop us Ringers. We should adopt the mailman slogan about sleet and dark, etc

I prefer smokin' in the cold. . . that's "cheese season" in my house. . . . (though windy conditions are my least favorite and occasionally cause me to use my "special words") Embarassed

I have found the cure to that problem i put a an old wood burning stove out on my patio close enough i can sit in my chair and stay nice and toasty but not so close my beer gets warm and still Smoke the pic is of my Christmas smoke did 14 pounds of butt with 1 foot of snow -10 temp with a steady 15 mph wind stayed warm and toasty

here on the 29th parallel it seldom gets cold like in the above pics.
but when it's around 40 on a dry high pressure day, that's our best weather for making deer sausage. since we cold smoke our sausage, it's very easy to keep the smokehouse nice and cool. not BBQ smoking like in the previous posts, but fresh venison sausage with some live oak and mesquite bark smoke is wintertime good eatin' around here.
now I gotsta find that green tomato chow-chow recipie.
goes really good with sausage that has alot of corriander.
you guys up in the snow can smoke cheese alot easier than us.

Sometimes you just gotta do what's necessary to get the job done. Shocked

Other times it's absolutely unbearable. Wink

You know it's cold when your beer freezes!
We have been lucky this year and can still see the stubble though the snow! But a 20 mph wind in 3F makes for some cold.
