I am almost complete with my build,FINALLY!Before cooking or painting i am thinking it would be beneficial to perform a smoke leagage / air infitration test to catch any problems before i finish paint this thing.I havent posted any pics yet, still working on it.It is a KAM tribute Offset Hybrid, 24" X 48"L w/ a 20" x 24"L offset f/b ,topload w/ guillotine damper. Will post pics when i figure it out. Any help on the smoke test would be helpful. Thanks _________________ inprogress 24 x 48 offset |

Good! Couldn't happen to a nicer fella. Be sure and let it set a spell to develop a bit of rust for authenticity. _________________ Backyarder

Thanks KAM . I appreciate all of the input from yourself and the smokering community during my build.Has anyone ever gasketed their main cook door to seal it from smoke leakage? And if so ,with what product? _________________ inprogress 24 x 48 offset |

smith54, it looks like your door seals pretty tight so to finish it off some black RTV high temp silicone would do the trick.
Once the cooker is cleaned up and painted on the inside of the door flange make sure the area is super clean and apply a bead on the flange. Then use a thin coat of cooking oil on the cooking chamber where the door flange meets it and lower the door being careful to not push on the door or it will spring back and mess up the seal. the silicone will find the lows and if it oozes out once it is cured simply trim it off.
I hope this helps. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.
