Hello All,
As all of you winter is fast approaching and it seems to have started early up here in northern New England. With the onset of cold weather comes the great disappearing act of decent charcoal. The normal supplier around here for RO lump (Wally World) phases it out as the seasons change from summer to fall. Lowes and Home Depot generally follow suit. I'm blessed with an Ace Hardware that stocks grilling and barbecue supplies all year long, but they stopped stocking Frontier in favor of Cowboy. I've requested that they bring the Frontier back, but to no avail. I relunctantly baught a 40 lb. bag of Cowboy because I may have any other option until spring. I'm hoping to hear from some of the other folks from this area about where you are getting decent charcoal during the cooler months of the year. Is their an internet or mail order source for good charcoal? Is there some country store tucked away somewhere that you folks are buying charcoal from?
Thanks,
Adam.

Bolton Orchards will have charcoal. It's right on Route 117 off 495 at the corner of Route 110.

They carry Royal Oak. I should have checked last time I was in there to make sure it's not the crappy Royal Oak from South America.

Recently bought a large bag of Primo from West Sport, Sudbury, MA.

Interesting; I haven't heard of either, Bolton Orchards doesn't sound like its all that far from here. How do you like that Primo charcoal?

Primo is o.k. I wonder who makes it for them. I e-mailed nakedwhiz and asked if they would do a review on it, since I didn't see it on their list.

I just use it for grilling, though. I use my firewood for barbeque.

Bolton Orchards is a neat place. If you drink wine, check out Hashoba Valley Winery, which is just off 117 and close to 495.

The charcoal is in the back right of the store as you go in the main entrace at Bolton Orchards.

There's a Gerardo's Bakery in Bolton Orchards now, too.

Good ice cream during the summer. Smile

There's a farm that has miniature donkeys on Bolton Road in Harvard. You turn onto Harvard Road off 117 in Bolton and it turns into Bolton Road. The farm is on the left as you head north, and it's pretty close to 111. Just pull in the driveway if the donkeys are out. They are the size of big dogs. They will run over to you and you can grab handfuls of grass from your side of the fence and feed them.
