Finally found time to post some pics.

Here's a link to my vending trailer build currently underway.

http://s997.photobucket.com/albums/af93/bootlegbbq/Vending%20Trailer%20Build/

I'm sending a link because I dont know how to reduce my pixels and I got a reprimand the last time I posted a pic on this site.

It's been wired and currently has all the siding on. Pics will be added as I have time. Receptacles are next. FRP board will be here Monday. I'll have some inside pics as that is being done.

Feel free to pic it apart or offer some advice. I'm only going to do this once!

Very nice, just two things and I looks like it's too late,
1.If it was me I would of sloped to the back the front eves, makes pulling in a head wind much easier and less fuel.
2.you should if you didn't run conduit in the wall studs. The road vibrations will cut though the insulation on the wires causing shorts and maybe fire.If you haven't noticed those punch outs have sharp edges.

daddywoofdawg...thanks for the advice. I knew towing would be an issue and couldn't figure out how to combat the wind. Should have posted pics sooner but just no time.

As for the wiring, we inserted plastic O-rings in the wall studs to take care of the sharp edges.

Louie..I'm not the smartest guy in the world but I make up for it by being poor!

Added a few more pics. Got the axles and wheels installed. The builder pulled it around town without brakes or lights to see how it would track. I was less worried about the pulling and more worried about the stopping. He pulled it with a Chevy 1500 with no problems. Of course it is not fully loaded yet. It squatted his truck about 3 inches. That should level out some once I have equipment loaded. Picked up the flooring a couple nights ago and hope to have that installed today. There is a small chance I can be vending out of this thing as soon as the first weekend in January. Hard to believe. State trooper ok'd the build. I'll go to DMV early next week to get it tagged. Also going to meet with the electrician next week to have a temp. meter pole installed at my lot so I can forgo the generator noise. $500 for the install and $40-$90/month for the power is worth not listening to the generator imho. We've decided to put actuator arms on the awnings for raising and lowering. My hope is to have 6x6 timber-frame posts bolted to awnings for decor. They'll weigh 150lbs each so I'll need the actuator assist to get them into place. It should be just a matter of flipping a switch to get them up or down (that's the plan anyway). I'll try to post more this weekend or next week.

Is this going to be a semi-permanent location for you (6x6 awning posts and meter pole)?

Virginiasmoke...yes this will be a semi-permanent location. I'll set up on Fridays and Saturdays, potentially Thursdays (I have another business to run) to cook and sell. The 6x6 posts will be made of Northern Ceder, the lightest thing we could find, but it will still weighs around 150lbs. I've leased the lot for a year, the owner has indicated he has no plans for the lot in the near future but he will one day develop it into a bakery. He likes having the traffic there for that reason. It's not out of the realm of thought that a drive thru BBQ could be in those plans...one day. I've been selling from a tent and cooking on site for a couple years. We have a new Health Inspector and she will not renew my license under the previous agreement. To be honest I'm sick and tired of all the set-up required to sell from the tent every day and had planned to build a trailer before the HD got involved. Not to mention I have to spend a day doing prep and cooking at my commissary before I can even sell anything. This way I can prep on site, cook on site, sell on site and pick up and travel if I have a 3-4 day event. Sorry for the long explanation but its getting close and I'm kinda excited about it.

Bbq Bubba...it will weigh approximately 12,000lbs empty and around 14,500 fully loaded would be my best guess. The builder has towed it with his 3/4 ton pick up with no issues. I'm looking forward to pulling it around town the first time to get a feel for how it handles on the road. It appears to track real well. We'll see how it goes but I'm a lot more confident in the design now that it's seen the road some.

The latest update on the build. I really hope to see some plumbing this weekend.

So why do you have to lean over the sink or reefer to get to your serving window? That will get old quick.

daddywoofdawg...sorry that's not a very good picture. There's actually a 30" gap between the steam table and the cooler, plenty of room to stand at the window and not reach across anything. What I've realized is once everything is in place and the plumbing gets installed, if I need to replace a piece, it will not be an easy task. I'll basically have to dismantle the entire kitchen to replace the farthest cooler. The coolers are used and in decent enough condition but who know how long they will last. Gonna have to cross my fingers on that one.

bootlegbbq, would you please detail your awning set up?
I need to do something similar and have been looking at an RV style fabric awning.
The cost is prohibitive and am looking for an alternative.
I don't weld so I would have to pass on your instructions to someone who does.

Virginiasmoke I'll try get some pics of the set up. It was not done exactly as I would have liked but since I couldn't be there during construction and I'm under a time crunch I have what I have. Basically it's 3/4" steel square tubing with some bracing. The hinges are barn door style and need to be somewhat beefy. The bracing that connects the awning to the side of the trailer is a primitive nut and bolt connection with round tubing fitting inside some square tubing so that it would extend during set-up and could be hidden away during transport. There is a "cup" that holds the extended round tubing at the point where it connects with the trailer, held in place by a clip pin. The clip pin is also used to store away the round tubing inside the square tubing as well as securing the steel frame to the diagonal brace during transport. Last but not least there are some spring loaded clips that secure the awning to an eye hook screwed into the trailer side during transport. This may be a little hard to follow but I'll try to get pics this pm or tomorrow.

Thank you.
This isn't a project I'll be tackling in the next couple of weeks so there's no hurry on the pics.
When you do have a chance though... some close ups of the details will really help.
I used this product for a light rack for another hobby of mine:

Since I don't weld, I'm hoping I can use something like this.

I haven't used this product but could be fine. My only concern would be wind sheer. Sometimes we get between 30-60 mile per hour gusts and I'd hate to see any part of my awning flying thru the air. I got the pics but doubt I'll be able to download this pm...5 hungry kids screaming for dinner and Mama's at the brink. Better go start moderating before I get in trouble. Embarassed Laughing

I'm thinking I might have an aluminum frame welded and use canvas. I'm mostly looking for mounting ideas.
Have fun moderating and please take your time on posting pics.
