Well I am adventuring further out into the world of low n slow smoker cooking. I am going to try pulled pork for the first time this weekend. I just purchased a 2.8 pound piece of butt. I am trying to figure out which rub I should use and how long do I cook this damn thing? I have been succesful at everything I have tried smo9king so far I hope my streak continues Smile any input/advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW I am cooking on a BarBchef offset smoker.

Thats some small butt...I wouldnt think it should take but 5 hrs at 225! Keep you rub simple if your making it yourself, sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, onion and garlic powder maybe.....many believe salt and pepper is all you need?! Many rub down with mustard first to help the dry rub stick - you wont taste mustard though!
Get er done, and remember - no pictures, it didnt happen!

If you've got a Penzey's near you, their BBQ 3000 is pretty good. I'd take it to 195°F and pull it. As Tony's said, take pictures! Wink

Well I apparently can not post pics here cuz I do not belong to any public photo site. Mr Tony it is a small butt cuz I am the only one eating. I have put the rub on it and will let it sit overnight. I will smoke it first thing in the morning Smile

Imageshack is a easier site to use in my opinion.

well it came out being pretty tasty and I actually forgot to take pics of the finshed product. It did not pull as easy as I thought it would but I wanted to eat LOL. I pulled it off at 185. I will start earlier in the day on my next try. Thanks for all the advice.

2.8 lbs is an appetizer once cooked there might be enough for 2 samiches.
