Hey Mr. Tony, don't know much about these trailers ,but I like the looks of them a lot. I wish I had gotten one and added a smoker, instead I got the Lang 84D Tandem and am trying to build out the kitchen. Much more of a headache than just adding a smoker! I like my Lang cooker a bunch though. Getting it ready to do the Worlds Longest Yard Sale this coming week. |

I've been a remodeling contractor for the past 25 years - have built commercial kitchens, steel structures, huge custom homes- but dont care to take on building my own!!..lol - With all the back aches and headaches from the state etc I figured I'd try the really annoying route - writing a check!!
I looked at the Lang tandems and decided the $7 grand to have it DONE may be the right route for me.....Be careful out there, those professional rummage sale ladies can be brutal!!...lol _________________ Money Maker

Good looking trailer in general there Tony.
I'd be happy to share my own experiences and have links to my own build here somewhere.
A few general observations from the pics provided:
I prefer FRP inside wall covering for ease of cleaning.
The fender wells on the porch need to be covered with ATP for the same reason.
I added some additional outlets (for fans and such) as well as lighting for my porch.
It's far easier to add little touches during the design phase than after the fact.
I sat for hours looking at plans and dimensions before pulling the trigger.
Other than that, it's a nice looking unit.
If I was doing it all over again, and didn't already own a fantastic collection of stainless pits i would do a through wall installation with a SP or OH and work solely from the inside kitchen.
Just my thoughts. _________________ BBQMAN

Nice looking unit. How would you go about mounting the Lang up there? Would you have to cut it off its current trailer? _________________ Chargriller

Pwrjunkie80 - that is the plan, cut it off the trailer - build a stand and mount it the long way on the drivers side - I will have access from the deck and from the ground - I will simply move the gauges / add more on the other side of the Lang.
Mike, I too thought of the through the wall, but am also looking at adding one through the wall at a permanent location - time will tell on that, may happen soon - may not - until then I am gonna save some coin and use the Lang! Maybe even make a few bucks selling the Lang trailer????
I pulled the trigger this morning - 5 weeks to custom build it -going with Red! 15 outlets -2 out in patio - 3- 3' lights total - 2 inside, one out.100 amp service and a platform for my loud 10 hp generator - will be adding a stack muffler to it!!
I saw your fan on the back Mike - planned an outlet for it, and for the tv I can put on top of upright freezer!! I left the vent hood out as I will only have warmers etc inside - smoker, new SS grill and fryer bases on patio.
I will be crawling the walls waiting!! Will be nice to be able to sell Q in a blizzard!! It has the heat option, and I may add more electric baseboard! Will also be setting it up outside the gas station I currently vend at, and selling inside!! So many things happening at once - which way to turn next??????!!

I would have wiring for a couple of outdoor type spot lights on th porch area,That light probally won't be enough on the porch, especially if your like me with aging eyesight, and reinforcement and wiring for a overhead cooking type vent inside, and one for a ac inside, even if you never use them it adds to resale or at least makes yours more desirable when you sell it.( wish I had those in mine ,well I have the A/C).Also have the bottom underside rhino lined, the floor under the trailer gets wet from the road and after a few years it starts to get soft and rots.(wish I had). You can spend it now and it's cheaper than having to spend it later.also get the floor made out of pressure treated ply not the standard ply builders use.(again wish I had).

Thanks for the input - I did get the treated ply floor, there are 2 spotlights along with the florescent, and I have a light from a dentist office that articulates that I plan on mounting to see it the smoker!![ quite a find at a rummage sale - it and an extra lp tank for $12.00!! and the bulb is even good!!]
It has the heat and A/C, and I have a plan for a small hood over my griddle - not sure of placement yet - and they wanted $800 for a basic hood - will wire with a cord 15 outlets thruout, I am confident I can find a free outlet somewhere!
Now just the wait.....its killin me _________________ Money Maker

From reading other peoples story's on picking up there new trailer,if you can, plan an extra day if needed down where you pick up your trailer.sometimes this or that is wrong or doesn't work, that gives you time to have them make it right and less stress on you to get back. _________________ Good BBQ is all smoke and beers!

I drove to East Indiana from Iowa to pick up my new trailer and when I checked it out, they had installed the wrong material for the interior walls. When I brought this to their attention, they asked if I could wait an extra day, so they could fix the problem.
Both my wife and I had to return to work the next day, so we let them know that wasn't going to work. When we told them, they said they would deliver it.
The new trailer was in my driveway two days later.
I was very pleased with the service I received from RC Trailers. _________________ Tender - Juicy - Smoky - Goodness

All went quite well I DID pack an extra set of clothes just in case, but didnt need them
They had forgotten to put the actual material of the awning on, so that took an extra 20 min for them to install it. The workmanship is just fine - I could nit pick a screw, drip in the frame paint, and a spot of a bead of caulk - but I aint gonna!
Cody at SLE [ Southern Lawn and Equipment, Nashville Tn] was a great young man to work with - as was the owner!! I brought them some FRESH Wisconsin cheeses and they started tossing in some extra's
1277 miles round trip, ZERO traffic or vehicle issues [ 'cept maybe the price of gas!!] and she is in my driveway. I had to rig an adapter cuz my generator has a 4 prong 30 amp, not the 3 prong most do but she is up and running!! Heat or A/C, 3 warmers and griddle all fire up on the generator circuit!! Dont have a commercial fridge [yet] but am confident it will be just fine based on my experimenting with the outlets.
Yea, the orange straps on the generator gotta go....lol
I have it loaded ready to work out of tomorrow - inspector wont return my calls [ as usual ] so he must be fine with what I'm doing.
Smoker gets mounted Sunday - will do the 2 trailer shuffle one last time tomorrow
