It's been a while since I've been able to get wood from our local dry kiln. But Jeremy brought me some Sat. mostly hard maple, with a little red oak mixed in:

Another company about 6 miles away puts out for free, trim from their container mfg. plant. red oak in this case:

making my overall supply look pretty good Wink

I could use some of those wide maple boards to make bases for steak plates. Very Happy

The hard maple makes great cutting boards after I plane & sand them, then finish with 'cutting board oil'.

I don't keep them very long, after they cut up pretty good, I burn them in the woodstove, and make new ones Wink

I 'made a deal' for Saturday, I make some ribs & fatties, & the wood will keep coming Very Happy

Thanks. People love them.

Here are 9 more I bought last year off ebay. Looks like these get used without bases.

They just had to be stripped and re-seasoned.

They were $49.95 and $14.95 shipping. The postman was Question at what was in the heavy box. Very Happy

The herd in now 29. Cool

The last four I bought also got bases made from mahogany.

Just keep checking ebay.

They show up with some regularity.

This is a good price ...

I don't have any standing ones ... yet. Very Happy

I'm not going to pay $60 for 2 plates.
