does anyone have any input on using scrap hardwood/end cuts from a saw mill its all hardwoods and 50 dollars a pickup truck .Is this any good for cooking or is it to much bark not enough wood .I appreciate your opinions _________________ always blues brews and bbq. Lang 60 smoker

I do it all the time. I use the scraps/remnants from my woodworking projects. Just be sure that it is not 'finished' in any way (no stain or varnish/sealer). _________________ ~Joe

I assume this is slab wood & 'green'. You'll have to stack & dry it a couple months, then the bark will come off easily.

Around here, you can get slab wood that is seasoned or green. $10 a bundle. 1 bundle will more than take up the entire bed of a pickup.
They are a PITA to cut into usable size pieces and will dull your saw quickly. _________________ Gunny 3073/4044/8411
