Ordering wood on line is confusing. I would like to get some apple and some peach chunks, but some sell by weight, some bt volume, high shipping, free shipping, man, it's confusing.
Suggestions to get a good deal? _________________ Man is the only animal intelligent enough to be capable of stupidity. |

Online wood is usually great quality stuff, but man, it sure does cost a lot compared to finding a local source. Add in the shipping, too. The effort you put into finding the local stuff is well worth it.

I know the feeling. I was wanting some pellets that come in a 20 lb sack. I found lots of web sites that carried the pellets but the shipping costs were incredible. As shipping goes, 20 lbs (or any wood product) is pretty heavy. I actually found one site that charged over $100 to ship a sack worth $20. The best deal I found was an Ace Hardware web site that ships to your local store at no charge (you do have to pick up your package at the store). I found that WalMart and Lowe's have a similar deal. There might be others.
It is at least a way to keep shipping costs down if you are able to find what you want.

Place an add on C.L. in the wanted section for the wood you are looking for. You may be able to find someone local that has a tree they have cut down or want cut down. I've picked up wood for free by just going to get it. _________________ Homemade offset smoker 24"x48"
