I bought some best of the west at Sam's for backup,I got to the vending gig and wanted to use some,I opened the bag and can you say cleaned out the campfire pit and throw it in a bag!I have had bags that have had really small pieces, but I have never had bags that had whole logs in it,and not just one but many!

I bought two bags. My Sam's used to carry 40 lb bags of Frontier. I really like the Frontier stuff. It did have some bigger chinks that you had to break in half. But now they only have the Best of teh West. I found three pieces that were over 12 inches long in the first bag. I won't be buying this again. _________________ Stumps Clone V 2.0 Build Thread

| My local Shoprite is selling small bags of the Best of the West Mesquite. I was going to try it but the reviews on Naked Whiz made it sound awful. This stuff you have is it also their Mesquite or another type of wood? |

I like the big chunks, it gives you more control of your fire if you need it. You can make it large chunks that will last a very long time or small pieces that burn hot and fast.
I have a steel bucket I put them in and beat them with a 4lb hammer to the size I need, mortar & pestle mod.
Lazzari frequently has log size pieces in their 40lb bags. Once in a blue moon you'll find a rock or two and maybe even some parcialy carbonized wood but never any plywood, plastic rope, or cell phones, like you find in the competition's charcoal. |

I dont even fock around with breaking it up. To much trouble.
I know what i am buying and plan accordingly. I usually have 2 open bags running as i sort through it for my various needs. _________________ #3 LIAR

I agree with Nakedwhiz that it makes a lot of ash, and isn't so long burning, but not about Chips/dust being a big part of the bag. I get average dust from the S&F 40 pounders. I love the big pieces, and the fact that I can buy Best of the West at half the price/lb. of other lumps.
If it costs half as much, it doesn't have to be as perfetc.
