Has anyone had any experience with the Best Choice briquettes?
I know that the Best Choice lump is made by RO ...... and I wondered about their briquettes ... so I sent Associated Wholesale Grociers an e-mail asking who made them, .... This is what I got back;

Quote:
We are in receipt of correspondence regarding your recent inquiry. The ingredients in Royal Oak briquets are proprietary. To use an all natural product with no additives please try our lump charcoal products.

Thank you,

Royal Oak Enterprises, LLC

So, ........ What does the phrase "100% Hardwood Charcoal" on the bag really mean???
Any ideas???
Thanks
J.

It means you start with 100% hardwood charcoal, add sawdust, coal dust, binders..... Laughing

I bought Royal Oak Briquettes once by accident at Walmart. Thought it was a bag of lump, won't make that mistake again.

I may use it for heat in the fireplace, but for food, it is lump and wood chunks, no briquies.

I used RO briqs in the red bag a couple of years ago and they were fine, even had a nice aroma like Stubbs.
RO Steakhouse Briquettes on the other hand are soft and do not get very hot.
They also make the Family Dollar brand and I think they are the Steakhouse briqs in another package, so maybe this is what you have.
