Well I just got done with my first vend of the season,What a week! The event was only two days, but the 5 days leading up to it was the beginning or the hard week.

It started as the lift gate stopped working on me so i had to jump it,next day my order didn't come in so I had to Sam's club it, get to the event the day before to set-up, lift gate wouldn't go down all the way, so I got some guys to help me manhandle the smoker out off the lift gate.

Got set up and the promoter wanted me to move my set-up forward about 5 feet to make the event look fuller!(I said i can't now,do to the set-up and getting the truck, etc).

Fired up the smoker loaded the long cooking meat in and did the rest of the set-up.checked the smoker and couldn't get it up to temp!

Finally messed around and got it to stay at 213F,So it told a lot longer to get to 195 on the butts.

Opening day meat is taking it sweet @ss time to cook, turn on the faucet to wash my hands and my leg it getting wet! Look down and have a hairline crack in my supply line!

After opening 3 Hrs late,I sold 150 meals in 4 hrs. After closing I spent so quality time with the smoker and got it working right. Cooked more butts and beef.

Next morning back to the same sh!t with the temps, threw on a couple racks and some chicken and hoped for the best.

Cloudy and rain second day with wind to 24 mph, needless to say the frame on my PVC sign blew apart! But all in all I climb back up on the horse and ride again with set-up Wed of this week.

P.S. anyone have a thought on why my temp aren't staying up?

This is a new problem.
And no pictures wish it didn't happen!

Without some more info it will be hard to diagnose the cooker issue.

As a frequent poster (and we like your posts!) could you PLEASE separate some sentence/paragraphs for us old fellas that need an easier way to read them?! Very Happy

Sorry about not spacing out the sentences/paragraphs I'm not sure how much room I have to post. And english class wasn't my thing.
About the smoker. The details are as you may know I have a gas assit and I'm getting a small blue but mostly yellow/orange flame.
1.Full Tank with new style valve(works fine on my other gasser)
2.I change the high pressure reg(worked for the nite)
3.Changed the hose(no change)
4.New high pressure burner last year from tejas(worked great)
5.Changed the brass fittings to the burner and other end of the hose
6.Tried to run with the door open some(maybe air problem,no change)
So That's where I'm at.

It sounds like your burner is running rich.

And like any rich running device it won't produce as much heat as it could be.

Try adjusting the venturi, and also look for a plugged (or partially obstructed) venturi and/or delivery tube or burner orifices.

You

can

also

get

as

much

room

to

post

as

you

need! Razz

Seems like it's not getting enough air, running rich as bbqman said.
Could be a dirty burner, are you getting any soot? I've read about the newer type tanks with the safety valve creating some problems with low press?

But

check

the

burner

and

other componants for

obstructions...

Is this the first BIG cook of the year on this cooker, if it is then I would suspect a spider or twenty in the piping and a clog somewhere.

I edited the first post for spacing for you!

+1 on spiders if it is the first cook. My turkey frier did the same thing last year, I disconnected the hose and ran a piece of wire into the burner housing , there was a tiny cobweb, it was enough to make it burn yellow and sooty. At least it was an easy fix, good luck.

DWD, dirt dobbers and wasps like those places too.
They were in my motorhome heater fresh air and exhaust.
PITA, to get the mud out of there.
