|
I have decided this year I want to use lump as much as possible. Prior to this year I have always used the big K. I have noticed in my mind that it gives a off taste to my beef, especially after chilled and eaten as left overs. I have switched to lump and the off taste is gone. Currently I have only tried Cowboy lump since it is all I can find around here. Anyone got any tips of where to go for different brands of lump? Since Cowboy is all I know I like it. Though I am up for trying some other brands to see what I truly like.
Thanks |

You can only go up from Cowboy as that is the bottom line lump on the market IMO. Wally world should have RO lump for $6.37/ 10 pounds and is pretty much all I use these days.

| Check your local restaraunt supply they usually sell 40lb bags at a discount, compared to alot of retail stores. Around here Ace hardware has some, some of the hearth and fireplace shops carry it, propane & gas stove shops carry some real BBQ equipment too. |

price chopper, big y and roche bros supermarkets can get full circle lump charcoal and if its not on the shelf they will order it for you. it is very good.
Stubbs briquettes ( not lump i know ) are very good too, lowes stocks it. and i have seen kingsford competition briquettes at stop and shop around here lately. (worcester area). |

| Wal-Mart usually sells Royal Oak. I have 2 Wal-Marts in my town and one has it, but the other doesn't. |

For some reason that seems to be the paradigm here, too. Out of the four closest Wallyworlds, two carry RO lump, and two are totally pwned by Kingsford.
With the price of gas it would make sense to give each store a call until paydirt is struck, 'cause batting .500 might be spectacular in baseball, but it's not so great when you're paying for fuel to wander around...
