I can understand this formula, but this is where the terminology gets confusing--and I don't know the right answer:

If it's only 45 minutes, can you call that a brine, as opposed to marinating? The term "brine" only has to do with salt and that chemical reaction, so does that reaction take place in 45 minutes?

As for me, I never brine for anything but turkey.

I got to ask why would you want to brine ribs.. Just cook em up..

Ira, its all semantics and different terminology, I think Brine I thing salt, I think marinade I think acid and salt. Bottom line is 45 min is a quick brine regardless.

The older I get and the more I bbq the less screwing around I do, injections, brines, rubs, marinades all have their place but I hear ya roxy. Still its never a crime to brine IMHO but WTFDIK. Laughing
