Hello everyone! I have been reading/mooching off the forums for a while now and figured it was time I announced myself. I am a displaced Texan currently living in Va, but soon to return to Texas. Of course, growing up in Texas my love for BBQ and Smoking are deep rooted but I always took the availability for granted. After being transferred to the east coast I found it a requirement to make my own BBQ if I was to get any good brisket. I will say that my time in Eastern NC/Va has made me appreciate pulled pork and pork ribs. So, about 4 years ago I welded up my first offset pit from an old kerosene tank and a bunch of 1/4" plate and angle. Needless to say that the journey down the road to perfection is a long and rocky road but this forum has helped me greatly. But, I must say that I am probably in the range of decent to good. Obviously I have caught the bug big time and I now fire up the pit atleast 1-2 times a month.
Last month I attended a KCBS CBJ class in Pa and got certified to judge and am scheduled to judge my first event this coming weekend. I look forward to sharing my successes and failures with you all and hope to learn a lot from you. Thanks for everything I have learned so far and I look forward to hopefully learning a LOT more in the near future. |
