I bet they sent you an empty cause they are 30 plus buck to fill.

That was my first thought, but he insisted there was some law against it ?
I still pay about $16 - 18 to fill a 20# tank.

Since he is a business taking a full tank to you when you bought a smoker he would be considered a interstate carrier I'm guessing is why.

That is what I thought, it had something to do with selling it across state lines. Seems like he could have put something on the contract that said, "gave customer free tank of gas".
I will try to get a picture today of the way the tanks are mounted on my tongue. It just has #20 tanks, but I think something similar should work. Is a #100 tank slightly larger diameter or just height? What does an empty #100 weigh? With gas it might be a little heavy on the tongue, but something similar would work anywhere you have space.

Shot a few pictures of the tank racks. Probably not much different than most, but they are very sturdy, so something similar may hold #100 tanks?

i bought a piece of round bar from lowes and threaded both ends. i drilled and tapped my trailer tung and screwed and loctited one end into the trailer. for the tip i took about a 15" piece of scrap angle iron and drillet a hole in the center. i then cut a notch on each side to fit the top of the propane tank. it works great.

| with a straight tounge just put two tanks front to rear instead of left to right, you could even weld a rectangular pan with angle iron and a piece of expanded metal to hold the bottom of the tanks secure. |
