Are there any "must do" bbq spots in or in between Houston & San Antonio that a guy from Philly just shouldn't miss? I'll be heading down there next week for my brother's wedding and figured I better hit at least one BBQ place..
Thanks in advance

in that area, I've always found the best food on the wrong side of town in small places that are all about the Q.
I've been gone for a while, so I can't point you in that direction, but...
this place is cool. it's all Texas. the food gets an 8.9 but the atmosphere gets a solid 11. the food is great, but it's Texas so you have to grade on a curve.
you will love the experience.

In the San Antonio area, it's BBQ fast food, but "Bill Millers" is a good visit. It's not a "must visit" location, but if your driving by, it is the first place I go when I can. it has it's followers just like white castle. _________________ It's all about the smoke!

| Lockhart Tx is considered the "capital" of Texas BBQ. Multiple places there. |

Joel's in Flatonia right of I10 is not bad, try some jerky. Luling is also right on I10 so you can do City Market. Lockhart is only a few miles north of 10. (few miles by TX standards) Hinze in Sealy also on 10 is not to bad either. In Houston and SA I can't say.
Come to think of it. In Schulenburg just south of the interstate is the Schulenburg City Market. It is on the right past the school. Can't say anything about their Q, but they got real good jerkey, and if you can transport some smoked sausage, it is great also. Schulenburg is 12 miles east of Flatonia. (Flatonia is pretty much the half way point from H to SA.) _________________ 22.5 Weber Kettle

| Houston doesn't have very good bbq imo. The best I have found is Pierson and Co on TC Jester, but its been awhile since Ive been there. Kruez Market in Lockhart wont disapoint. Some say its the best in Texas. Salt Lick in Austin is one of my favorites. |
