I was looking for some help here hoping you guys may have a checklist you could provide.

I am possibly looking into entering some competitions next season and I was looking for a check list of everything you could possibly need for a cook-off. I am talking about from meat to dish soap to what ever you can think of. I just realized this past weekend that it requires a lot of thing that you may not think of. Some of the stuff I do not currently have so I am trying to plan for next year and I am thinking about cost.

So if you have a pre-comp check list you use would you mind sharing.

Thanks

Below is a link to the Excel version of mine. I used the Smokin' Guns version as a starting point and tweaked it to tailor it to my cargo and process.

This checklist covers both the "I have it" (H column) and "I've loaded it" (L column) dimensions that I found missing from other checklists. I use it for both shopping/locating and for loading.

Checklist

Cheers,
John

Patio -

You don't have me and my kids on that list!!... You know - to steal your sleeping bag, keep you up all night, and then harass you the rest of the time... Cool

Mike, I don't need them on the list -- it's a given. I'll do whatever I can to help make you and yours comfortable, if the need arises. Reid was a serious trooper and I was more than happy to help him hang with you. I don't have a son, so I jump at any chance to pass on whatever is left of the Boy Scout in me.

Take good care,
John

As I look out my window, it is snowing up a storm here this morning... Figure you are getting hammered as well... Off to check on Mom in Texas this weekend...

You take good care, too... Cool

My three girls are the loves of my life and I will teach them to BBQ, it's just that the "Boy Scout" thing doesn't always work with them. You have to adapt and throw in a little Girl Scout, which doesn't exactly come naturally. There's something to be said for what I call "Caveman Time". Very Happy

I wish you the best in your travels this weekend. You are clearly a great son. Please give my best to your family and to Mom.

John

The thing that helps me the most is a time sheet. I just made an Excel spreadsheet broken into 15 min increments, more or less as needed. It really helps at 4:30AM to just have to look at that sheet and know what has to be done. Especially when I'm grogily at the point between happily drunk and "in the zone" hungover. Shocked

Hey guys thanks for posting the check lists. I'll use one next competition.

I also put together a time line for the competitions and got razed about it during my first competition, but after the team used it they loved it. It really comes in handy especially when you're suffering from sleep deprivation and when there is a lot of stuff going on at the same time.
