I got a smoker for christmas, after one terribly unsuccesful attempt at smoked ribs I studied this website for the next two months to try and learn all knowledge necessary to smoke a delicious meal, my ribs were phenomenol on attempt #2, smoked salmon was next and it too received rave reviews, chicken wings were my last experiment and turned out amazing. Now I am not sure what to try next to wow my family, any ideas or recipes would be much appreciated!!
By the way I have a hot smoker which was purchased from canadian tire and sits on top of the side burner of my bbq, after some minor modifications this thing works amazing.
Thanks |

topples,
First of all welcome to the ring! Whenever I can afford it, I go for prime rib aka standing rib roast. I do nothing more than rub it with EVOO, some Kosher salt, and fresh cracked pepper. Let it warm up a bit at room temperature then smoke at 225° - 250° until it reaches 135 degrees internal... that should be medium rareish. Beats anything I've ever had at a restaurant. |

there are a lot of things you can try....Pulled pork, ABT's, Fatties, and Brisket are only a few.
Then you can start making your own bacon, corned beef, pastrami, sausage...
If its meat....and even if its not...its good or great on a grill/smoker _________________ Electricity can be dangerous. My nephew tried to stick a penny into a plug. Whoever said a penny doesn't go far didn't see him shoot across that floor. I told him he was grounded. - Tim Allen |

Use your smoker for doing simple things the grill is normally used for. burgers and hot dogs work great on the smoker, I just did some hot dogs the other day and brought some in to work and the guys think they are amazing.
Takes about an hour for each, for the hot dogs if you want more smoke flavor, leave them on longer at lower heat. Simple as that.
Then you can also branch out to other meats like brisket along with burnt ends, pulled pork, Fatties, moinks and ABT's. Oh, and meatloaf! _________________ Scott V.
