The Grand Champion is the team with the highest total point score for all categories. Reserve Champion is second overall. Those are usually the only overall prizes awarded. In each category it's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. Most contests give trophies or ribbons for 1st - 3rd, some 1st - 5th, and others 1st - 10th.

Garry that true if it's not a MIM contest Grand Champion is the team with the single highest score no matter how many category's you cook.

I've never cooked a MIM contest so I'm not really familiar with their rules.

Sounds like the equivelant to a Grand. Good Job!

For the MIM Grand that is determined by the highest score of the nine samples for the finals round, 3 each for shoulders, hog, and ribs. The nine are competing against each other for the Grand Champion. The top three from each of the three meat categories make the finals. MIM does not recognize a reserve.
