If you're looking to score some fruitwood on the cheap, now is the time to check any orchard operations in your area for access to their pruning piles. I've been seeing the orchards in my area starting the annual "clean up the trees" exercise and planning on hitting 'em this weekend...

Happy Hunting!

Just did this. I got Apple, Peach and Pear for $20. The owner gave the go ahead to come back anytime with no charge. It should be ready to go in 6 months or so. Very Happy

Excellent, SectorB!

You're fortunate to get the peach and pear as well. I got about a half cord of apple limbs, the only species I could lay hands on, on the cheap. The orchards in my town are pretty much apples only, mostly because of fire blight that nailed the peach trees years ago (spreads like wildfire from what I've been told - one infected tree can take out square miles of orchards!). And I don't know of any pear orchards in town at all.

Cheers!

My neighbors had a reverse mortgage and when grandma passed away in a rest home the kids had to leave. That was over a year ago. So as a neighborly duty, to help keep the place up, I'm going to prune the apple, pear, pecan, peach and cherry trees. It's the neighborly thing to do. Smile
