The Pigs-R-Us Cooking Team just wrapped up a two-week stretch with a couple of big contests.
We had not cooked in any comps since May so we were a bit rusty going into our hometown contest the Oct. 20-21 Hog Wild In Corinth (KCBS) contest where we did get a couple of calls to the stage: 8th place chicken & 4th place pork. We also had an 11th place ribs and 21st in brisket. Lotta Bull won the Grand.
This past weekend we were able to kick our program up a notch while cooking in the Oct. 27-28 Hatchie Hollow Hogfest (MIM) in Bolivar TN. We were able to place in the two categories that we cooked in: Shoulders & Ribs. We earned a 2nd place in shoulders and a 1st place in ribs. The Grand Champion was won by The Good, The Bad, The Swine with thier shoulders.
Both contests had a strong field of winners. We now have a few weeks of downtime to recharge our batteries and prepare for the Nov 10-11 Iuka's Smokin' Challenge (MIM) in Iuka, MS. _________________ Big Tom
