Thanks Mike!

Had to chuckle about my sauce entry. Looks like the only team I beat w/ it was the Polish team. Rolling Eyes Judges must have hated it somethin' fierce. Funny thing is....that same sauce was all over the ribs that came in 2nd. Laughing

Like I said, the scoring was all over the place.

really...so what was the problem with the judging?


The Jack uses celebrity judges instead of KCBS judges. They give them a class before the event but I'm not sure how many attend the class. There are some top notch teams there obviously, so I find it hard to believe that there is much bad food turned in.

My chicken scores ranged from a 998 to a 755
Ribs were consistent with a couple 999s and a low of 987
Pork ranged from 888 to 958
Brisket was the worst, 999, 977, 888, 778, 866, 555. 9 slices from the same flat. I thought it was one of the best I'd cooked all year. Shows what I know... Laughing

Dang Mike- from solid 9s to 5s in brisket!!!! Shocked

Ah yes, the celebrity judges- you must have had Bozo the Clown in on that set of judging! Wink Laughing

Mike I am truly sorry that I did not get a chance to come by and see you guys after the comp. Congrats. It could not happen to a nicer guy. Thanks again for the advice. I will send you a pm on how we finished. Soak it up, you deserve it.

My congrats go out to Mike at the Smokedelics for their fine finish and also out to the balance of the people that did get a chance to walk as well.

Was a dream come true for our team to even get an invite and then to get a JUG and a 16th overall out of 65 of the best teams in the world, what more can I say. It is still not sunk in.

A 16th place in that field is something anyone would (and dang sure should) be proud of. Since we don't cook in the same contest, I may be hitting you up for some tips. I have to go head to head with Mike at every contest, I need help.
