I`ve been hanging around these BBQ forums for quite a while and it seems to me that when a team competes for so long that after a while they start to win and when they do... its big.
I have a feeling that the "Smokadelics" are on the way to the top it should be interesting to see where they are at by this time in 2007.

Big thank you to all!!

Just got back in this afternoon. Quite an experience overall and was thrilled to get a call. Celebrity judges usually means the scores are all over the place and this contest was no exception.

I was fortunate enough to finally meet Garry and spend some time talking with him. Also got to see some old friends and make some new ones, including the German team across from me. It was their first time to the states and their english was far better than my german, but after a bottle and a half of Jack, most of the communication barriers were overcome. Wink

It was nice to see Old Dave get a call, he had a great contest overall! I also got to meet Scott and his wife Shannon(hope I remembered that right) from Smyrna in the shadetree division. He posts here as fglover. They were set up in a mudbowl that somewhat resembled a ball field.

Oh... and the weather SUCKED on friday Evil or Very Mad

, the pic Garry posted is one of the drier spots! The weather saturday afternoon made up for it though as it was beautiful.

All in all it was a great experience and I felt privledged to be around some of the top teams in the country. I hope to have the opportunity to go back again and put to use some of the things I learned from this contest. I hope some of the other guys here who compete will have the chance to experience it first hand.

Thanks to you guys on the forum also for the support, I was really wanting to bring some hardware back for the Ring. Pics will be coming soon, I still have to unload the truck and find the camera. Laughing

One more contest in Stillwater in 2 weeks and then done for the year. It's been a good one and I kinda hate to see it end, but I'm ready for a little break too.
