This is my first smoker attempt and I'm asking for as much help as I can get. Please forgive my crud drawings. I have an old oil tank that is 7 ft x 30 inch wide. I'm hoping to have two cooking grates and a removable water pan. The fire box will be on the bottom of the cooker and will be made out of 1/4 steel. I figured a 30" Wide X 24" Deep X 24" High. Is this big enough? I would also like to have a 5ft door on it so I could cook whole pigs. I know that it will be heavy but plan on having a counter balanced door. Smoke stacks from 6" pipe and cut them 12" long. Is that about right? I would also like to have a removable water pan that can side in and out. I guess-ta-mated when the water pan is in place that I would need about a 2" gap on both sides and a 6" gap on both ends, for the smoke to come around. I am also going to try to put this on smoke king of wheels to be able to move around. It's going to be one heavy mamajama. So will something like this work? Thanks everyone for your help.

MattG, your plans will work if you allow enough fresh air intake and your opening into the cooking chamber is large enough. Your exhausts you have covered with the 6"diam. I look forward to following your progress.Very Happy I would suggest that you re-size your pics to 640 x 480 or SoEzzy will pull them.

MattG, here is a link to show you how to set your photobucket account to upload your pics to 640 x 480. It is always a good practice to preview your post before submitting this allows you the opportunity to fix a pic if it slips by before submitting the post. I hope this helps.Smile
On this pic you can delete it from your account and here then upload it again to photobucket once you make your changes.
