Has anyone ever used it for smoking? I have one that's out of control and I'm about to play Leatherface with it. I didn't want to just dispose of the cuttings if it's a miracle wood that would make my sorry bbq competition-worthy. Wink

This article (page 10) says the beach hibiscus is an excellent wood for the smoking of food.

There's many varieties of the hibiscus so you may need to further research whatever it is that you have.

I have several of these trees in my yard and I would LOVE to get rid of them. They attract white flies like nobody's business. I tried to do some research on if you can smoke the wood but couldn't find anything.

I guess the best thing to do would be to burn some in a fire pit or something and smell the aromas that come off of it. From what I can tell it's safe to use since it doesn't contain much sap or resinous qualities but I have no clue what kind of flavor it will give the meat.
