This should be a required watch for ALL drivers.

Very sad stuff,I still see so many "Idiots"texting and yapping on the phone its a joke, the fines should be heavier and driving privileges revoked for a time after so many offenses. If someone close to you gets killed because of crap like this, maybe you will all think twice about doing it........you know who you are. _________________ Horizon Offset (Marshall RD Special)

| as much tech that these phone have you would think the cell companies would disable the phone if it is moving at a certain speed. |

I am still surprised that states see the necessity of instituting no texting while driving laws when they already have hands free laws on the books. Does anyone know a way to text without using your hands? _________________ Pat

You're kidding, right? This is about texting. Why would you want your phone company to disable texting while you are a passenger in a car? Maybe you are telling your friends who are waiting for you somewhere that you are on the way.
And in some states passengers can drink in the car..... _________________ Pat

So we were heading home from an event last Wednesday with a fully loaded F250 pulling a large trailer.
This is REALLY hard to miss, but.............................
The farking idiot in the right lane swerves in our direction.
Yupp, my passenger (I was busy trying not to get side-swiped) tells me the driver is texting.
As we come to a stop at the light, the driver looks over and gives us a "WTF are looking at" expression.
The driver behind him proceeds to dang near plow into the back of him.
Yupp, that young lady was texting too!
Talk about poetic justice.............................
This is a problem- and our local news reports that:
Driving instructors say the danger of "in-text-icated" driving rivals intoxicated driving among teens.
"Texting now has taken over for the number one cause of fatal traffic as well as traffic crashes even exceeding B.A.C., blood alcohol," explained Richard Smith with the Tampa Area Safety Council.
Sobering news indeed. _________________ BBQMAN

Its getting worse here everyday for texting or talking on phone's,we just had a one week police blitz, they wrote out lots of tickets and people still don't get it.I think besides the fines,we have have to start knocking points of the license. _________________ Horizon Offset (Marshall RD Special)

It's hard to make a phone Idiot proof. There are too many Idiots.
Even in our little burg, when a traffic light turns green, I look both ways, TWICE. _________________ I was taught to respect my elders. It's just getting harder to find them.

i still think it is an easy fix , disable the phone (for sending text or calls) above 25, 35 ? mph. You get an important call pull over to the shoulder, tak an exit do something, if it's not worth stopping for then it not an important call. But that would cut it the profits of phone companies so it will take laws to do this.
But lord help we invade on someones right to text.
There was a 14 year girl killed last night a few miles from here crossing the highway. The cops said witness saw her with cell phone out texting, and found the phone open with the text screen. She apparently walked out in front of a car and never saw it coming.
I'll say this in parting. These thing are like the old Corvairs ... Unsafe at any speed
