After reading through some of the stickies for beginners, I think I need another temperature gauge to rely on besides the one mounted on the cooking chamber.
Any suggestions for a reliable gauge for checking cooking chamber temps? |

I use an ACCurite digital remote probe 14.00 at chinamart or 9.95 at Academy sports to monitor both the pit temp. _________________ Never met a cow that I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

Tyler83, When I want to know the difference between grates and door therms I use a couple of oven grate thermometers. Once the cooker is up to temp place them on your grates and leave them for at least 30 min. Check them against your door therms and then you can mentally adjust the difference. I hope this helps. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.
