I am wondering if maybe we should change the criteria to file size instead of dimensions. I have seen some larger photos that do not take up much space and some smaller ones that are denser and take longer to load. What do you think?

It's not load that breaks the format of the site... it's the size that pushes the adverts off the page, it's not a loading time issue, never is never has been! Wink

I say just leave things the way they are...if you change now you are going to create mass confusion.....I really don't see why people have a hard time posting a simple picture...I have thousands of photos on the ring...once you set up your settings in PB...you never have to touch them again.

Thanks Pat.

Here's the "how to" for Irfanview, the one I recommend most often, it allows for resizing bulk images, I've done 270 - 300 in a single batch.

Trying to read through re-sizing and I have a question, is the preview the same size for all picture sizes?

Found a re-size function on photo bucket, re-sized pic, tried the preview with the new pic, appeared the same as the original.

Downloaded InfanView, re-sized the original. Deleted the photo bucket pic, replaced with the new re-sized original, pic still looks same size as original??

Swarty, first make sure your Irfanview re-sized the pic. You can hold your cursor over the pic on your computer to verify the size. In order for the Irfanview to work on Debbie's computer I had to re-boot the machine for the settings to take effect.
When you re-size in photobucket if you choose to replace the original it will remain the larger size I do not know why. You have to create a copy of the original in 640 x 480 then I suggest you delete the original to limit confusion with duplicates of different sizes.
As of now if you send a 640 x 480 to photobucket from your computer it remains 640 x 480.
I hope this helps. Very Happy

Checked the photo size in the computer, says 640x480. I opened up the photobucket editor and it show's 640x480 at the original size. Is there a way to verify if the preview is the correct size? Thank's for the help!

Browsers often have methods of checking "properties" of images etc. What browser are you using?

Well I'll be damned! Apparently then all I need to do in PB is upload my pic and edit it to 650 on one side and the other side defaults to like 480. Save it and thats it. I don't even lose my original it creates a new pic in the new size!
Me likes! Very Happy

I hate the new photobucket . It USED to be relatively easy to use now i can't even upload a pic. I think they want me to use the uploader program that they offer but i refuse . Pkerchef
