I used to post pics at 800x600............starting in 2011 I have been posting any pics at 640x480 which seems to be a perfect size for the forum and still lets you view some good eye candy. Very Happy

To avoid carpal tunnel change to a Dvorak keyboard, it reduces strain and wrist pain almost to the point of being a none starter.

I use them on all my keyboards!

I set my defaults in photo bucket.
Speaking of avatars... I notice some get larger ones than others. Is that a function of membership status?

Thanks so much!

One of my few pet peeves (well, one of my pet peeves at least) was scrolling to read the print on any post.

Even bigger was a pic posting that was over-sized on one of my own threads after someone posted something huge to accompany.

Either way I'm done at that point and move on.

I have the same issues with websites, particularly "pro" commercial business sites that should know better.

There is a lot of things that will improve after we upgrade, but posters being responsible enough for their own actions won't be affected, no matter how up to date the software is!

Updating and bug testing also takes time away from earning a crust and playing, both of which have higher prioritys IMO!

Aye. I found the function on p-bucket. Will use it. If it doesn't work, please give me a warning before banning.

First: I don't mean to rock the boat but just want to give some feedback.

I'm with you, is the forum software even the problem? I usually resize by default to 800 or 1024 on the longest side. Rarely do my images come out over 50-80k. With a several year old computer and the cheapest broadband plan available in a rural area such images don't even begin to come close to pushing anything.

While such a rule is in place I just won't bother with posting images here anymore. This is a great place filled with great people but I'm not going to bother creating an extra set of images just for this site. In the long run this will probably drive my traffic more toward other sites even if I like this one more on the whole. 650 longest edge is too backwards for today's web.

Like I said, not intending to offend, just my honest 2 cents. I'll keep reading even if I'm not posting pics. Very Happy

Is the issue really the forum software or the possibility of pushing the sponsor buttons that are on the right of the page, off with extra long pics? I've unwittingly been guilty of doing this myself in the past. Now that it was brought up... I can see why sponsors would have a problem with their adds not being shown.

It seems to be a simple request. Wink

It's a simple request to stop the ads being pushed off, and to stop folks having to scroll sideways on mobile phones, laptops and notebooks.

You're not rocking the boat soybomb, at least on this site you can post images, there are a number of bbq sites that don't, we will miss all the pictures you would have posted!

Sorry that setting the upload options at photobucket is too much trouble for you, but we will just have to get over our disappointment! Wink Laughing Wink

I'm not a photobucket user, any image that I link to is on a server of my own and I see no reason to go with such low resolutions for my own use. But I do understand why you might prefer that, just sharing the opposing view point. Very Happy

I did suspect the forum would carry on fine without my pics however Very Happy
