JAllen, wife, kids, business to run etc. have a way of making you a little more serious.
I don't know about a mid life crisis, what's the crisis, your half way there?
Sit back, relax, and figure out how to cook that dam yak.
Maybee a yak throw down? I'm sure you'll do better than the mac and cheese one.
Good luck! |

WTF is a "Yak"?
We have a Yakoff (sp) in Branson.

This is one of our herd. We call him Yakov Smirnov. He's a good yak; eats heartily, likes carrots and only on rare occasion tries to gore.
He likes the mountains (above 10,000 feet), but does okay at our current altitude of 3500 feet.

Instead of roasting a whole yak, why not do a donkey roast and advertise that everyone is guaranteed a piece of ass! _________________ Just remember that the toes you may step on during your climb to the top will also be attached to the a$$es you'll be forced to kiss on your way back down! |

Holy Crap...what a fun 3 weeks trying to get to the point I felt qualified to post. Stealing an hour here or there to read a few lines or pages has been a lot of fun. I found myself within 10 pages of this particular post this evening and couldn't help but read as fast as I could just to be able to tell you what a h-ll of a read this has been. Hats off to you! You're a little sick in the head but it seems to be a good thing, beautiful and talented wife (know how you feel there as I'm a lucky one too), the ability to stare fear in the eye with hatchets and glocks being flashed at random, tough guys, hotties and BBQ. You can't find this stuff in the cinema! Keep it coming as now I have to wait for your posts as opposed to having them on demand...kinda bittersweet. _________________ UDS

bootlegbbq, thank you for the kind words and motivating post. Anyone from a city named "Floyd" is as welcome here as a hot tamale on a cold winter day.
Where was my camera last night? My oh my. It was international woman's day for those of you who don't know and the hotties were showing up like pimples on the butt of a chocolate scarfing teenager.
Vern was in too, and he was in rare form. Serving tables in between swigs of beer, and hanging out and causing a general ruckus.
Oh, Vern was working 'cause I had to fire a boatload of employees for sundry acts of disregard for duty, but I'll get to that later.
He would sit down at a table in between serving ribs and invariably every three minutes there would be a great ball of laughs ejected from the table.
All was going well until we headed down to the J-Lo room to check on Urmat and company in the middle of their 1.75liter bottle of Old No. 7.
Urmat is a big-spending, mean-looking nice guy from one of the key city departments to go unnamed at this thread.
Well, me and Vern go down there and we're hanging out with about six of Urmat's crowd when I make the mistake of reminding Vern of just how hot the girl was at table two.
Vern proceeds to stand up, raise on finger in the air and proclaim: "I'd like to @#$@#$ her in @#$@#$ @##."
Urmat didn't understand this particular wish very well. Neither did his friends; and to our great fortune, the ladies in the room didn't speak much Canadian.
The entire room went quiet and eyes got big for I'd say...14 seconds as Vern's finger slowly became quite flaccid and went to his waist.
Urmat: "You want to....?"
It was as if he was trying to get his mind around the concept and I wasn't sure if he was confused about the actual wish, or the fact that someone would express the desire in such a public place.
Anyway, somehow the event ended peacefully. _________________ Reverse flow Sterno can

Thanks JAllen, Floyd is a small but very interesting town made up of old hippie throwbacks from the 70's, even older cattle and tree farmers and university type's (Va. Tech is close by) that like rural living. There's a festival almost every weekend so it's a fun place to live and a great place to raise children. Not sure it's suite's your level of adventure seeking but its a great place for doing BBQ vending and festivals.
As for Vern...dude knows how to command a room! _________________ UDS

bootlegbbq, Jeff was either gored by the Yak or he ran off with the HOTTIES after Mrs J Allen caught him looking. _________________ Gunny 3073/4044/8411

Jallen,
Just cought up on the last 15 pages I missed (I was out earning Canadian Tax dollars). Wow, I missed a lot.
Wanted to say thanks for sharing your stories and life with us. You are a very candid and insightful person, and I ride the roller coaster with you when I read. Your accounts of daily life in a foriegn land never fail to make me laugh.
The surveillence thing: Notify the Canadian Embassey. Nothing you can do about it except enjoy the attention and leave your "Jallen groupies" to themselves. |

Tuesday starts a new week.
Dixiecricket, nice to see you back and all caught up.
Sunday and Monday (closed) were pretty quiet, as we got some much needed rest.
We were actually in here yesterday making sushi for ourselves and for Vern. A nice change from the bbq.
On the agenda for this week is a quote for a party of seventy that might want to rent the place out at the end of the month.
I've been getting to bed early lately as I'm trying to sleep normal hours and not take naps in the afternoon.
Well, I woke up at six and puttered around for awhile feeling antsy, so I decided to get some exercise and walk to the bbq. It's about a three mile walk and we had about four inches of snow, but I was feeling like I had it in me.
Just as I was at the home stretch, I get a call from Mrs. JAllen who had finally been roused by the kids.
"Where are you?"
me: "I'm right in front of the Mongol restaurant. I decided to walk in today."
I actually felt fire coming out of the phone from the other side.
I'm sure that I did something wrong; I'm just not sure what it is yet. _________________ Reverse flow Sterno can

JAllen, Don't worry, you'll find out what you did or didn't do.
Did you remember to walk the yak before you left?
If Mrs.JAllen is cleaning up yak mess, you'll pay dearly. |

No, I'm sure he put the toilet paper roll on backwards. That is a seriouse offense and has started open warfare on rolled paper goods in my house.
In other news, Jallens world doesnt seem so strange in light of recent world events near and dear to me. dont worry, they are bbq related, I promise. like everything else here. |

Yeah, must have been the toilet paper.
Also, I can't remember if leaving the toilet seat up or down is bad.
For me, "up" tells the women that some care has been taken, but some complain about this too. _________________ Reverse flow Sterno can

OK so we have to tie this back into BBQ somehow or Mr. Bear will lock this thing down. So I'm thinking that choosing the proper toilet paper relates to BBQ because its the last stage of a proper cook.
Come to think of it we haven't discussed BBQ for a while...nevermind. _________________ UDS
