Thank you to all you veterans, and no need for any further recognition, IMHO!
Maybe we could all just hold hands and sing "You Raise Me Up".

How about "Burn em Down", a little more fitting for this place. _________________ #3 LIAR

Tim my Friend. You evidently missed a few classes here on the ring cause everyone one knows that the Black Super Duper Fast Therma-Pen is the Fastest. _________________ Always remember slow and steady wins the race.

Oregon smoker, I see that you are from that football factory state with the college team in the running for National Champion, and may not get the Josh Groban reset. We have this wanna be football program out of Ann Arbor with an ex-football coach that has everyone join hands at the banquet and sing You Raise Me Up. It was so hokey that even Groban called out RichRod on it!
K.A.M., I respect your opinion, my good man.... your street, er, forum cred is way up there in my book. However, the only time I ever saw anyone use the black Thermapen was when they were checking the temp of the water being used to boil their rack of ribs.....

I'm a few hours closer to him Kevin, I'll have him hog tied by time you get there and start smoking whatever he has in the fridge for when you arrive! Then we'll eat in front of him, after testing temps with you BLACK Thermapen that is! _________________ Money Maker

To all the "old timers" here, I appreciate all the advice that you have given. When I hopefully get into ya'll's league, I can return the favor.

I've only accomplished two cooks so far..... I wanted to do some beef short ribs and started searching the net, leading me here. I decided to stick my toe in the sauce (so to speak). I purchased, and modifed an ECB (gasp!) electric with the advice and knowledge so willingly presented here at the Ring. The cold weather and holidays have prevented more cooks, but I'm eager to try my first brisket. Unfortunately this weekend will be taken up replacing the water pump and timing belt on my car .
After reading more here, I'm trying to decide between building a UDS, or just taking the easy way out and getting a WSM. The little Franken' Sparkin' Brinkman works well, but I think it's time to take off the training wheels.
So... On one hand, tremendous thanks to all here, it's a great community. OTH, y'all are just a bunch of enablers and 'Q pushers. |

I'm leaning towards the UDS, since I love to tinker. I've got a cheap Harbor Freight 220V Mig that I'm self-teaching myself how to weld with. So far the welds are not esthetically pleasing, lol.
Cooking and wrenching don't work out so well together. My rule is to leave the beer wrench alone until the job is done. Cooking without a few beers is unthinkable. |

I too would like to thank those who have been here for what seems like forever. I am not a large poster but glean a ton of info from you all and my cooking shows that I have been a good learner.
A million thanks to those who provide all of us with such great info. |

GREAT posts thus far!
Teleking, I think you may have planted the seed for a THERMA-PEN throwdown! Could get interesting!
Now, a newbie TD would be cool as well!
