I'm going to enter a local kcbs competition, I'm a first - timer, and I was hoping some of you pros could tell me what type of chicken tends to fair best with the judges. Thighs?
Thanks! _________________ $TR8 $MOKIN' Site |

Yep....as many as you can get in the box(at least 6). And sauced works better in most parts of the country than not sauced(that goes for the chicken too). _________________ Mike

Thighs and legs seem to be what most teams are turning in. And as Mike said sauced. Unfortunetly most judges like the chicken to be almost candied. Meaning a coating of sweet sweet sauce.
Take a look around the sight for the many pictures of comp turn in boxes to get a good idea of what is being turned in.
Good Luck! _________________ Tom

I'm liking 6 thighs and a big breast cut in 6 resting on top.
Best of both worlds. _________________ Chargriller Akorn
