Some of you may remember that about a year or so ago I scored a killer stainless telecom cabinet... Well, I have FINALLY gotten time to do something with it!

The inside of the cabinet is now insulated with 2" of ceramic wool, has the grates in place, and is NOW sitting on the cart!

Special thanks to Cody and Big Phil for coming over today to assist in getting the smoker onto its base. This critter is HEAVY! Hopefully Phil will come in with the pics he took today, I failed to get any of the lift and such...

HEre is where we are as of now...

This is the base before the casters were in place.

Details of the rear wheels

Rear view of the wheels with smoker in place

Caster detail

and a shot of the smoker with the door open as it sits as of dark this evening

LOTS more work to do, and a LOT of surprises coming! This should be something most have never seen before... I HOPE! Laughing Shocked Laughing

Stay tuned for details...

Charlie

Cody, it was great to have both of you guys over! I APPRECIATE the help, I never would have gotten that beast on the cart alone!

After you left I decided to add the two front rails, but haven't added the rear ones yet, so it's still on the jacks in the center. I'll add the rear portion tomorrow and weld the chamber to the frame as well.

For those that are wondering what the cabinet is, well this pic should clear it up a bit...

Gonna go eat with the family and then hit the sack... Up early to do a few things and then work some more on the pit...

Charlie

Hey, I know that garage I've had a beer (or two) and a cigar there! Nice looking build Charlie. I hope all is well! Say "hello" to your better half for me. All the best.

Very Nice build you have going on there Cranky Buzzard. That thing is huge. You might need to find you a small briggs/stratton to put on there to make it mobile.

Looking forward to seeing the build progress.

Okay, so I am finally able to post the photos after a great day and night. So, here are the photos from yesterday....this thing is freaking AWESOME and I can't wait to go over to Charlie's house for the 2nd cook on this bad boy. Charlie NEVER invites anyone over to his place for the initial cook on his smokers... Laughing Laughing Laughing Hopefully Cody and I will be there for the 2nd cook...

Cody, it was a pleasure FINALLY meeting you and I hope all three of us can get together again soon...damn, I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!!!!

This thing is kick ass and is huge as well!

5 racks...lots of meat can go in this bad boy...

Basket...

Cart that Charlie made from scratch...

The mad scientist at work. We were trying to figure out how to get the smoker out of the garage and on to the cart. Charlie has one of everything, but did NOT have any dollies at his house yesterday. Shocked So, we were stuck with trying to get this thing out in a safe and quick manner. And then it happened...I had a brilliant moment (I don't have many of those at all). I told Charlie that all we needed to do was the roll the cart up to the opening of the garage, lay the smoker on the cart, and roll it out of the garage...damn if it didn't work!

The smoker back in the garage...it was way TOO easy to roll back in to the garage...Charlie has a winner here with his cart...

Charlie, my son Dustin, my wife Nikki and Cody enjoying the beautiful fall weather...it was a great afternoon!

And, Cody brought his motor hoist over to help with lifting this bad boy. Well, we didn't need it! As Charlie said, we have three OVERGROWN boys...we did just find by just rocking the smoker back and sliding the cart under the smoker and tilting it back on the cart and then we just "wiggled" it in to place...

My almost 3 yeard old son Dustin in the smoker. Dustin is just over three feet tall...

And Dustin waving to his Ringer buddies!!!

Charlie - congrats on your progress so far. Thanks for inviting us over to look at this bad boy and to help you out. As I told you yesterday, I will bring over some meat for the 2nd cook on this gem. Maybe we can even plan it to where Kevin, Debbie and some other Ringers can come up here to help christen this smoker in grand fashion!

And for those of you who think this thing looks good right now, just wait until you hear and see all the bells and whistles this bad boy is going to have...you are NOT going to believe it...congrats again Charlie!

BigPhil...gone...

Looks like great cooks in the makings. I especially love the firebox design. You can stir the fire and adjust your mix during a cook.

Please slice me off a single rib and put it in a COD envelope and I'll be glad to pay when it arrives. Smile

Phil, great pics! Thanks for posting them... Candis LOVES the shot of Dustin in the pit!

JonnyRod - If I had to do it all over again I would start with tubing and sheet metal! Shocked Building it out inside of the cabinet has proven to be a challenge since you HAVE to work with the box itself.

Cody - After putting the back braces on and lowering the jacks I saw no difference in height, so it looks like no flex of the cart! Very Happy

K.A.M. - If you need help landing something on a cart these 2 are the guys to do it!

Uncle John - If all goes well I should have almost daily updates as the build progresses. Also, I got your PM and it sounds good to me! You'll have mail soon!

jeepdad - it's a LOT messier than it was when you were down! Shocked Looking forward to your next visit! Any travel plans?

TrailerBuilder - Hmm, thought about using an old DC motor from an electric pallet jack, but that just sounded TOO lazy, even for me! Laughing

Soapm - We'll see about that COD rib...

Here are a few shots of today's progress... I was busy ALL day, but really don't feel like I got a lot accomplished...

This is the NEW coal basket in works. My father-in-law brought over some grates he said hes had laying around since the 70s, figured I'd put em to use.

EVERYTHING is skinned, and I got the exhaust installed

This is a shot of the rear where most all of the wiring will be. Prior to wiring I'll add 2" of insulation. The wiring is for the thermocouples.

Thanks for the replies thus far, and hopefully I'll have more tomorrow...

Standby for the GEEK TWEAK that will be installed on this critter... Laughing Shocked

Charlie
