Harvey:
Sorry to hear you were not pleased with your effort this weekend. It is hard to compete against the likes of Team Cedar Grilling, Dizzy Pig, BBQ Effect and Busting Loose. Man, they got it down for sure.
Dont pack it in dude, where would we get coffee in the morning.
Thanks for the correction, it was a long sleepless weekend. I feel like I got hit up side the head with a brisket. Maybe it was a weenie... _________________ Chargriller Akorn

| Congradulations. Those are some nice pictures as well. I sure wouldnt mind getting a pm from you on your brisket times and recipe seeing as how we wont be competing against each other. That is one fine looking brisket. |

Good Job, as others have said.
My opinion on the pork would be to back off on the sauce and offer larger sections of pulled pork, with more bark visible. If you do anything with the sauce just use to glaze the butt(shoulder) beforebeingpulled for the box.
The rest really looked good, also seemed to score well for you! _________________ Big Tom

Tom:
That is what I am thinking as well. I was sleep deprived and it was our first comp. Sure will work on the pork before next year.
Thanks for the advice. _________________ Chargriller Akorn

Roxy,
Sleep deprivation is just a side effect of the BBQ contests, you will become used to it, much like parents do with newborn children.
The big difference for most of us is the addition of alcohol to the lack of sleep to really separate the pro's from amatures. (irreguardless of quality of cooking)
Best of luck next time! _________________ Big Tom

Think I'm a amateur when it comes to the drinking.
Just ask my team mates... _________________ Chargriller Akorn

Thanks everybody! We had a blast, the team really worked well together and we could not have met a nicer bunch of people. We put out some great product (in our opinion) and really didn't have any hiccups or "OH NO! WE FORGOT...." so it sure helped to have a good checklist. I know for sure we'll be doing the whole season next year.
Thanks for all the kind words, we're now hooked. _________________ - Jim

Thanks for all the great comments from everyone. It's great to have so much support from everyone.
We did have an excellent time and we'll be around for next year.
Jeff T. thanks for the comments but it's still a long way to the top.
Diva Q you are awesome. Not only did you have time to compete and rank so well, but you kept us fed all day too.
See you all again soon.[/img] |
