Posted: Sep 25 2010 Post subject: Our New Pitmaker Trailer |
|
|
Last month we drove down to Texas and picked up our new Pitmaker BBQ Vault trailer mounted smoker. I've been waiting to report until we had a chance to cook on it a few times. I had a chance to do one practice cook before our first contest with it. I cooked some chickens and ribs and smoked a couple of beef tongues. Two days later, we competed in a KCBS contest in Parker, CO where we finished 3rd in chicken, 8th in pork and 6th overall out of 55 teams. The following weekend we cooked on the BBQ Vault for the 3rd time in Grand Junction, CO where we finished 9th in chicken, 6th in ribs, 5th in pork, 5th in brisket and 3rd overall out of 49 teams.
The BBQ Vault is constructed of 1/8" steel and all seams are welded so it is watertight. There is no way for water to get into the insulation and cause rust on the inside. The guys at Pitmaker have taken the vertical smoker design to a new level. They will soon have a smaller, less expensive version available, called the BBQ Safe.
George, Victor and Julio from Pitmaker. Pit builders extraordinaire.
Putting the finishing touches on in the Pitmaker shop.

Garry,
Congrats again! I saw most of these photos on your facebook page, but didn't see all of them. The ribs look AWESOME and I sure could chow down on those ribs and the chicken as well. Congrats on the great showing so far...next is a GC call!!! _________________ 1 homemade UDS smoker

The charcoal grill is Pitmaker's MVP grill. It can be removed from the trailer and inserted into a hitch receiver to take tailgating or camping.

VERY COOL!!! Those are the same dudes (fabricators) that used to own (and run) Pitts & Spitts and built 2 of the 3 Pitts & Spitts that I own....They do awesome work for sure.
If I was to ever go back to that style of pit, I would use them to build it for me!! _________________ Where rumors end and legend lives forever... |
