So my brother couldn't wait to make his own smoker so I don't have any from the start of the project but its still a pretty good start I think. He went w/ a reverse flow style and being the risk taking macgyver type he threw caution to the wind and w/ a little help from some the builds on this site he went for it. I messed w/ a ratio calculater and he was pretty much spot on, his firebox is a lil bit small but looked to cool not to use. He used a couple old airtanks he had, Perfect backyard size.
Here is the whole thing as of now. _________________ Wilbur- my great U.D.S.

Inside the airtank still needs to build a basket. And he's going to put some fireplace rope to keep all that delicous smoke in

That's a good use for standard sized wrenches. I haven't used anything but metric for many mnay years working on Fords.
Looks like progress to me! _________________ Since Christ DIED for us, we should LIVE for Him!

Looks like there is a flap between the fire and cooking chamber.
I don't think you want to mess with the air flow there or it will impact the fire itself. You adjust the heat entering the cooking chamber by adjusting the air entering the firebox. However, you fire needs good exhaust patch or it will begin the black smoke and creosote...
PS... and I don't think you want air entering there or you will have mega trouble controlling the heat in the cooking chamber...
I'm no expert so I could be wrong... |

Me either - and I could be, too but I was thinking the same thing. I don't see the utility of such a mechanism, and leaks are rarely beneficial...

I'd like to see if Sears will replace that wrench after you grind it off _________________ D. Tillery

It's a craftsman, I bet they will. I've taken pieces of wrenches in for a trade... |
