Thank You Mike, Very Happy The sacrificial plate will save the top of the firebox from rusting do to the high heat then cool downs. With the humidity around here most fireboxes with in a year of being built suffer from deterioration in this area do to moister being trapped in the metal as it cools down. I did not want to weld them touching each other as this would promote rust between the two surfaces I also did not want to create an insulator for the warming chamber so I spaced it at an angle helping the heat/smoke into the cooking chamber. I hope this explains it. Smile

A condensation plate...of course it is Kevin, of course it is. Rolling Eyes Shoulda seen that right off. The Old Mil thinkin' brew is working... overtime...I wish I had bought some stock. Laughing Nice plate. Wink

I had some time to work on the firebox a little here and there.
I got the intake slide installed, I still need to build the adjuster rod.

I built the wood grate and basket along with the clean out tool and poker.

I also installed my sacrificial plate in the top of the firebox, it is hard to see but it is suspended 1/4" on the cooking chamber side and 3/4" on the far side giving me a slope to the opening. The plate is 3/8" thick.

Kevin , I'm really liking your air Intakes !!!!
Why not use that Acme rod and a small hand wheel...........A sort of alla Chuck ? And the Top Plate......Now that's Class.......... Kevin !

Love that thing! After seeing it "for real", I can`t wait to see it finished. Yoda (k.a.m) is an artist! Hope to see you win some comps with this in a not so distant future. May the force be with you. Cool

I shot this pic one early morning down there. It was a bit blurry at first, but after a sharp up in photoshop this is what came out. The mystery unfolds. Cool

What I learned while being down there is that the amps shuts down by themselves around 9pm.
