Let me know if you have any ideas.

ALSO....what brands of grills & smokers would you want to see if you walked into my store?

Big Thunder, best of luck and if you need a Low Sodium BBQ Rub on your shelves I do wholesale pricing. I always like a simple name

I use a store called BBQ Pits and Spits (BP&S). The things I like are they have a good selection of grills and smokers. The key is to have something in every price range. You don't want the guy that only has $200 to spend on a grill or smoker to spend his money at Wally World. One of the big things is BP&S carries Wicked Good charcoal. That is the main reason I go there. Not saying that is the only brand but it's great that I have an excellent fuel so close. They carry a good selection of rubs / sauces too. Another thing I like is they have smokers cooking something most times I go there. This allows people to see the product in use, also sends smell waves into your car as you drive by. They sell sandwiches which is pretty nice. I think they do a good business with it also. Just giving you the things I like about the store I use.

names:

Grate and Grill (a store in GB that went out of business)
Grills, Smokers and more
BBQ Grill Store
BBQ Utopia

catch phrase:
helping you tame the flame with our premium bbq products.
master the art of meat and flame

I like your catch phrase #2 also.

If you live in the city I think Grills To Grillz would be catchy.

I'll throw in these.

The No Name Grill Store
***** Grill Store (where ***** is the name of your city, state or your name).

Some areas have different rules about DBA, so that may also play a factor.

Store names:
Where there's smoke, there's food
225F
Lumps and Chunks
(your name here)'s Firebox
Grate splits of fire!

Tag line:
"Whether you like it low and slow or hot and fast, we have it here"
"Let us light your fire"
"From burger and dogs to ribs and brisket, get what you need to do it right""

Products:
Not sure what kind of space you have available but offerings from good quality entry level to high end would get more people in and work on repeat customers looking to upgrade. Not sure on specific brands, I am sure a quick perusal of this forum will yield some consensus. I would avoid the el cheapo stuff as that genre is well covered in most places.

I would include the three basic fuel groups (gas, pellets and charcoal/wood.) If there is a market in your area maybe work out a deal with a custom builder to showcase his/her work and pass along orders. How would an awesome custom built rig look sitting in front of your place?

And of course a full line of gadgets and gizmos for the units you stock. Nothing is more frustrating than going into a place that sells the rig but doesn't have the cool toys to go with it (Bass Pro Shop, you know I'm talking to you!).

Another thing, if you have the space, are demonstrations. Show folks how the different rigs work and maybe offer paid classes at some point. It would definitely differentiate you from the big box stores. As an alternative, offer a line of DVDs and books for beginners and advanced users.

Don't forget assembly service. Most of us are pretty handy with a screwdriver but not everyone is.

Delivery on assembled units?

How about a "product of the week." It could be a sauce, or rub or gadget or gizmo that would bring folks in regularly to see what's new and unusual.

Good luck in your venture and let us know when ad where you are opening.
