O.S., I know it sucks, but I ended up going at it with a braided wire wheel on a grinder, and an orbital sander like this
Only got a little dirty
I would suggest at the very least a dust mask and some ear plugs! _________________ 22.5" weber kettle x3

So how many hours did it take to get it finished?
If i go that route i am going to wait till it cools down later this week. Its *95 outside right now. |

aww hell, It's 95° just about every day here! You'll get used to it in no time!
Honestly I have very little recollection of the evening I cleaned up that drum. Could have been the heat or beers, or the killer combo
I did it after work (usually get home 5ish) and had late dinner (wife remembers, she thinks that's why her chicken was dry ) so a couple few hours.
